Back towards the end of March 2012 I started having issues with the website running slow and emails taking a long time to send. I contacted the hosting company ADDR.COM and they insisted nothing was wrong when I knew through my own experience of websites and how they work that something wasn't right. I continued trying to get hold of them only to have emails and Support requests ignored and telephone calls routed to call centres in India where they wouldn't connect me to the main offices of ADDR.COM.
I gave up for a week and then all of a sudden I find that every single .PL FILE on the server had been deleted. PL files are the files that make scripts run and make things work. Because of this the message forum along with other features no longer work and its not an easy job to put right and will cost me a lot of money to do so. I have finally managed to contact ADDR.com and they haven't admitted that its their fault but they are close to as can be seen in the chat transcript I had with them which I have posted below.
At the moment the website is only hosting photos and some of them are missing. Let me just say that over the last 14 years that ADDR.com have been brilliant and sorted any issues straight away but in the last 6 weeks they have not only ignored me but have also now lost some files that make the website work and these files took a long time to create. The must have a back up and I have insisted that they restore the back up asap and they told me it would be done by the end of day.
IT HASN'T BEEN DONE.
Again, let down by a company who seems to have destroyed the Southlakes website. I want to rebuild the site on new servers but this is going to take time. It may even mean a new website address. I hope not as I will lose a lot of visitors.
The current situation is that ADDR.com are still not responding to my requests and looking in another forum, other people have had the same issue.

Meanwhile, ALL I can say is that I am totally disgusted in the way they have treat me lately and the fact they have lost all my data.
Its took a lot of effort and things are just about running on the new servers.
Read the transcript below which was from around 10th Masy 2012. I talked to them on Thursday 11th and they promised me everything would be up and running in 48 hrs. Again, they have let me down badly.
Here's the chat transcript between myself and their tech support,.

southlak : Lately your service to me has gone from 100% to very bad indeed.
I spent a month messaging you about a cron and you ignored me or the chat
thing would say no one available. Its not good enough but to add insult to
it today I find my forum isnt working as someone has removed all the .pl
files and I will have to start a fresh install. I have been with you oiver
10 years and never had a problem til recently. Idoubt I will be renewing
with you in september unless you now restore from your backup what you have
deleted of mine
southlak : I cannot understand why after 10 years of excellent service that
you treat me like this. I thought I was a valued customer. When I could
manage to leave a message for support I got the occasional automated email
and nothiung else. Now none of my forums work. You will have a backup and I
insist you restore what youve deleted.
southlak : previous addr support numbers that got ignored from you were
2569351 and 2568343 I sent you numerous emails and got no response and now
you are treating me like this. Maybe its time to move elsewhere if you
cannot be releable. I pay for a service and not happy

Stephen Matthew : What are the files that got deleted from your account
southlak : all the .pl files by the look of it in forumadmin60 and also in
http://www.southlakes.addr.com/cgi-bin/bbs60x there should be at least
webbbs_config.pl in there as well as others.
Stephen Matthew : THe issue will be fixed shortly.
Stephen Matthew : Once it is fixed. I wil send you the confirmation email.
southlak : How shortly. Ive heard this before and had responses in the past
of its a server error and will be fixed in two hours and a few days later
Ive had to get back to you.
southlak : I really need a timescale on this
Stephen Matthew : The issue will be fixed by the end of the day....
southlak : OK thankyou. I really hope so. I will check back in 24hrs to see
if it is ALL working.

southlak : it seems that looking in allkdirs that every single .pl script
has vanished
Stephen Matthew : I will fix it immediately

working, every link, every page in full.
southlak : that also means sorting every script and setting the CHMOD so it
works.
